Uniform Interstate Family Support Act

Uniform Interstate Family Support Act (UIFSA) – All States of the United States have
adopted the UIFSA, (amended 1996), 9 U.L.A. (Pt. I) 348 (Supp. 1999) [supercedes the
Uniform Reciprocal Enforcement of Support Act]. A possible motivation for the expediency
with which the UIFSA was adopted by all States could be that a federal act mandated such
adoption by January 1, 1998, if a state was to remain eligible for federal funds for support
of dependent children. 42 U.S.C.
