Re: Joseph F. Pimental – 210 N. Ridgeview Rd., Luttrell, Tennessee 37779

I represent Mr. Joseph F. Pimental in connection with his property located at 210 N. Ridgeview Rd., Luttrell, Tennessee 37779. I also am involved in a litigation case in Union County Chancery Court concerning this property.

Mr. Pimental has informed me that his property taxes from 1998 to 2006 were approximately $97,400. Now, however, for 2007-2008, you have assessed a value of $123,800 on his property. I understand that Mr. Pimental has requested that an assessor come to his house to review the property in question, and I trust that a major reduction to the assessed value of the property will be assessed.

Please note, however, that given the economy and recent events, the assessed value, as well as the actual value of his property has likely decreased significantly. Further, there are significant issues concerning foundation cracks due to mining blasts occurring near his property. Were he to place this property on the market today, his chances of obtaining $60-$70,000 would be difficult.

I am writing this on behalf of my client as a lawyer and a real estate agent.

I would hope that you would take current economic factors, including the devaluation of his property, into account when assessing the value of his property. Note that we are prepared to challenge the decision should the assessed value and the corresponding property taxes not be reduced significantly.
